What Financial Health Means to Me
Financial Health with WritingI may just be a college student with very little money to my name but financial health does matter to me. That is part of the reason I write and blog; it is another way to generate income and create a healthy financial life. Having a healthy financial situation is something that very few young people even take into consideration and yet it is so important. Here’s why:
Just a Poor College Student
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard the phrase “I’m just a poor college student” from my roommates and classmates. While it is true that money can be tight at times I feel like this is more of an excuse than anything else.
Especially where I go to college at a Bible college that is free tuition and only $145 a month rent. There is something wrong with people living as if they are just too poor to have any financial health.
When you take into consideration how much we as college students spend on things like going out to eat and entertainment, it helps to put into perspective why we are the way we are and gives in idea of what needs changing in order to achieve financial health.
The more I hear this phrase, the more I realize how much it is simply an excuse not to take responsibility for ones finances and simply live without managing money.
What Does Financial Health Mean to Me?
I haven’t always managed my money properly but the more I take responsibility for my finances, the more important this matter becomes to me.
Financial Health Means Sacrifice
Living a financially healthy life isn’t always a bed of roses or endless vacations or even everything I want at my fingertips. Sometimes it takes sacrifice to keep my finances where they should be.
Sometimes it means not going out to eat or passing up that cool gizmo or gadget. But ultimately I know it is worth the sacrifice now to ensure a stable financial future.
Financial Health Means Thinking Outside the Box
In order to achieve financial health, it is sometimes necessary to think outside and beyond the box. Finding unique ways to save and earn extra money are always on my mind as I strive to keep my financial health meter well in the green.
That is why ThePennyHoarder is one of my favorite blogs on the web because it helps me to think differently about my fianances.
Financial Health Means a Bright Future
Too many people, especially college students live for the here and now. But spending the time to ensure solid financial health is a long term investment that promises an even greater return in the future.
Just because you don’t see the benefits now, don’t give up!
Financial Health Means Freedom
Ultimately, financial health is so appealing to me because it means freedom. Freedom from debt, freedom from living the nominal life too many people are trapped in because they fail to take responsibility for their finances.
Living a financially healthy life is one that many only dream about, but I plan to make it happen!
